It’s time to move out of the spotlight, yummy mummies. Your partners want to look good too and they’re making a name for themselves: studly hubbies.

According to Dr Benjamin Norris of Silkwood Medical in Sydney, studly hubbies are professionals in their thirties and early forties who are often prodded into having cosmetic work done by their partners who’ve already experienced the benefits of cosmetic surgery.

“Two of the most popular procedures are male breast reduction — “man boobs” or “moobs” — and liposuction,” explains Dr Norris. “Liposuction is often performed to remove love handles or stubborn pockets of fat that can’t be shifted by exercise. Often it’s something that’s always bothered them, such as excess tissue and fat in the chest area or a big belly.

“The trend has arisen due to the huge popularity of plastic surgery — fuelled partly by television makeover shows, society’s growing acceptance of cosmetic procedures and the encouragement of wives or partners who’ve already had work done,” Dr Norris says.
