Arm lift / Brachioplasty
Brachioplasty or arm lift is a procedure that removes loose, sagging skin from the upper arms and is generally sought by patients who have experienced significant weight loss.
There are 2 parts to the procedure – liposuction is used to remove excess fat from the area and then the sagging skin is removed. The contour will be immediately improved; however the final result will be apparent when the swelling disappears in around 3 weeks.
Scarring
The incision is generally made from the elbow to the armpit but maybe shorter in less severe cases. Within six weeks, the thin surgical incision will be barely visible. Generally draining tubes are not required.
Hospitalisation
Usually day only.
Recovery period
2 – 4 weeks. Exercise after 4-6 weeks.
