BBL (broad band light) uses advanced dual-lamp technology with precision cooling to give a precise and comfortable treatment. BBL effectively reduces unwanted pigment, helps to improve vascular concerns such as rosacea and capillaries, stimulates collagen and eliminates active acne breakouts. BBL uses energy from pulsed light to heat up the upper layers of the skin at multiple wavelengths. The heat will stimulate the cells to generate collagen, while also addressing other skin concerns. *

The Procedure

BBL technology emits a broad-spectrum of pulsed light to reach several layers of the skin at once. During the treatment, the gentle light and electric energies break up the pigment and/or blood tissues. Collagen production is stimulated, restoring your skin to a more youthful appearance.*

Recovery from BBL

Each treatment results in gradual lightening and improvement of pigmentary and vascular imperfections. Temporary pinkness of your skin lasts a very short time. Most people are able to return to work and normal activities immediately after treatment. Brown spots may temporarily go darker before they lighten, but an improvement in brown and pink spots are usually apparent before the next treatment. Improvements in skin texture are noticed towards the end of the series of treatments.*

Frequently Asked Questions

BBL consists of  treating photo-aged skin with visible broad band light (BBL). Broad band light can be used to treat hyperpigmentation, fine lines, redness and other signs of ageing.

Forever Young BBL has the newly recognised benefit of delaying skin ageing. Forever Young BBL is designed to maintain healthy skin and will help delay the signs of ageing; fine wrinkles, laxity, age spots, uneven pigmentation and textural changes in the skin.

  • People who want to maintain healthy looking skin
  • People who have had damaged skin previously treated with lasers or BBL
  • Mature people who have good quality skin who may not yet be ready for surgery
  • People who have undergone a facelift and want to rejuvenate/refresh the skin
  • It can improve pigmentation
  • It can reduce facial telangiectasia
Although face, neck and chest are the most common areas, arms and legs can also be treated.

BBL can be done any time of year but you will need to avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen as part of your maintenance.
It is important to discontinue the use of vitamin A and acid products 1 week prior to treatment. Having a microdermabrasion or an epiblade treatment approximately 1 week prior to BBL to polish away the dead skin cells will help enhance the overall results and the appearance of your skin.

Depending on how dark your skin colour is, pigment inhibitors can be beneficial when used pre and post treatment to minimise the risk of hyperpigmentation.

The Forever Young BBL utilises various wavelengths of light which target and denature damaged cells in the skin, stimulating our body’s natural healing process. When this occurs, pigmented damage such as sun spots and freckles get pushed to the surface of the skin and naturally flake off. The light also treats unsightly broken capillaries in the skin. The end result is a more even and brighter skin tone. Another benefit of the Forever Young BBL is the stimulation of collagen production that leads to thickening of the skin, leaving you with youthful, rejuvenated, healthy skin.
The BBL Forever Young price starts from $450.00

BBL delivers intense pulsed light into the skin which feels warm. Some areas may be more sensitive than others, however we find patients tolerate BBL really well.
With BBL there is usually no need for pain medication.
This depends on the skin condition being treated and the level of energy used during your procedure. In most cases you are able to apply makeup after your treatment.

If you are having a BBL treatment for pigmentation you may have some microcrusting for 7-10 days post procedure for the face and slightly longer for the body. This is a normal outcome which will result in the targeted pigment cells being lifted and sloughed off the skin. It is safe to use make up during this time.

It is important not to wipe off the microcrusts as they will fall off when you keep the skin moisturised. Sun protection is paramount to minise any risk of hyperpigmentation.
This will depend on your skin requirements and goals. On average 2 – 6 treatments are required, but this will be evaluated and discussed with you.
